Today, one of the main reasons for the decline in rural population is the lack of economic opportunities and employment. To reduce the negative consequences of this issue, dams can be a source of economic development based on tourism in rural areas. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to analyze the factors affecting tourism in the Duroodzan Dam and evaluate its role in sustainable rural development in Kamfirooz County. The nature of this applied research is descriptive-analytical and its type is survey. 150 people were selected as the sample size using the Cochran formula and were studied and measured in the form of a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using non-parametric chi-square, Kruskal-Wallis, and Cramer tests. Explaining the strengths and weaknesses of dam tourism development in the studied villages with the chi-square test indicated a significant relationship at the 99% level between the mentioned components in the studied area. Also, by comparing the average impact of the dam tourism economy on the studied villages, no significant difference was shown between any of the studied items. The result of the Cramer's Fi test emphasizes the positive and significant relationship of 99% of tourism on improving the quality of life and economic livelihood of villagers.
